Sierra back in the lineup 20170602

I would have started Pham over Piscotty. But we do need Piscotty to get going. Maybe he'll be a little more focused playing for his mom.

    1. Fowler, CF
    2. Carpenter, 1B
    3. Piscotty, RF
    4. Molina, C
    5. Peralta, 3B
    6. Diaz, SS
    7. DeJong, 2B
    8. Sierra, LF
    9. Lynn, RHP

Heyward didn't even move, I'm sure Lackey will be staring and jawing at him because he's just "that guy."

Not sure why you don't put Fowler in left and Sierra in center. But that might require Matheny telling Fowler something he doesn't want to hear, so that ain't gonna happen.

As long as he keeps swinging at thigh high fastballs in the middle of the plate he'll be fine.

Should have been on second, tough.

Still gotta hit it, none of the other position players have embraced that strategy.

I really don't remember Piscotty being this useless. He's always stepping on his dick.

Bowman getting squeezed works out well, as it turns into the DP.

    Great sequence Matt Bowman!

    Those inside fastballs were Maddux-esque.

Some credit to Matheny for getting the matchup he wanted.

Lyons just gives up too many HRs to be a reliable situational reliever.

The misplay in right was a bad pitch hammered and then misplayed. A work of art. I call it Piscotty and meatball.
Lyons provided the meatball and right field provided the Piscotty.

I said the first time I saw him he reminds me of Maddux (ball movement, speed)

Yup, tip o' the cap there - Matheny outhustled Maddon on that exchange. Burned Schwarber and the cubs best righty off the bench so that he could still get an extremely favorable matchup with Jay and his tendency to roll the ball over to 2b in a DP situation going against a worm-burner in Bowman.

    Point, Matheny.

LOL Maddon let Lackey hit for himself w/ 1 out ahead of a double, then didn't come back out to pitch, b/c he wasted a position player last inning to get to a GDP. Maddon is a genius!

He may be a bit over rated I know there was a fair amount of folks including me that wanted him to replace Gump.

Maddon has a lot of the same quirks that people here hated LaRussa for.

He's a slightly more gregarious version of the same creature.

They're EXTREMELY similar, but on their good moments and bad. In ye olde days, had we had Maddon instead of LaRussa, there'd have been a Maddon Faction just as LaRussa had.

Carp couldn't pull the trigger on his pitch then chased ball 4. He's more out of whack than I recall ever seeing him.

They absolutely must have someone other than Molina hitting 3-4-5.

Hopefully Jerk Store is enjoying his time at home.

Thank goodness for that Molina contract extension. We sure needed to pay him like he's the best catcher in the game. Nice con job, Yadi.

However that is why you plant Sierra in CF.

How many times have we seen this game this year?

Get a couple runs, fritter away a dozen scoring chances, play stupid defense that leads to a couple runs, lose in the late innings.

    Rinse, repeat.

Probably a dozen times or more they've played this exact ballgame this year.
