Martinez gets the DP grounder and Carpenter saves DeJong's butt.

Pham and DeJong combine to scratch out a run.

I'm in favor of letting DeJong play his way out of the lineup.

    And, if he doesn't - he doesn't.

When we saw Wong start playing better, we knew the minor injury that would sidetrack him wasn't far off.

Happens every 2-3 years or so. He actually starts playing well, then injures himself.

CarMart throwing nastier stuff right now than anyone I've ever seen. Unhittable.

Did you hear Moe was "pleased" with his roster coming into the regular season?

Hasn't that roster now had about 20% turnover?

    FINALLY.

    That was a bomb.

Rosenthal sat down in the pen before that ball landed.

The LA pitcher may be 200 pounds lighter, but he was clearly watching Buffet Broxton game tapes.

I'd rather have Rosenthal take the 9th anyway.

There's my second trade of the night. Rosenthal and Oh to the Nats for Robles.

I think you have to trade Rosenthal. No way Mr. Potter signs a Boras client.

I've never seen a first sacker so bad at catching pickoff throws.

Nice outing, Boss. Have we seen that changeup before? I thought he was strictly a fastball/slider guy.

CarMart's 8th inning required an exorcism after the game, his pitches were so vile. I've never seen 3 outs recorded that dominantly with 3-4 different pitches. Sliders at 87, change at 78 and fastball for pitch 101 was 100 mph. 102 was 99 mph. His slider looked like a rumor that a wiffle ball may have just passed by at 87 mph. That was the most excited I've been in a long time watching a Cardinals game. My wife gave me a weird look when she walked by and I talking out loud to the tv.

Carlos was filthy and it was a beautiful thing to see.

Split today? That would be cool.

No, no it hasn't. The only turnover has been Socolovich, Broxton, Grichuk. Everyone else from the opening day roster is still on the big club are still on the Active roster or DL. That's only 8% turnover.

I do get you point......the roster was weak to begin with.

Is that how it's pronounced? I assumed it was De-Jong or De-Young.

I've only got bits and pieces of the last few games, but that's what I thought I heard them say but I got crossed up when 85cards mentioned something else.

Yeah, I've heard it pronounced that way on the broadcast but it just doesn't look like it should.

WTF is he supposed to say?

Trying to play gotcha on this is useless. Nobody cares. And you know better. Just stop.

If 'his' team resembled the Bad News Bears, is he still "supposed" to say this?
Oh... wait... they do & he did.
I think the real point here is... that it's his job to put a team on the field that actually is a team to be pleased with. He didn't & those who can evaluate... knew it.

I'd give anything to have a player of Kelly Leak's caliber!

Of course. But it's also reasonable to think that its possible (or likely) that Mozeliak can say he's "pleased" with his roster while simultaneously being unsatisfied with how the offseason went & wish the roster were better.

Sure, I'd be pleased if my kid finished in the top 5% of his class & got an academic scholarship to Mizzou & if asked, I'd tell you just that. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't rather he were valedictorian & was headed to an Ivy League school.
