Speaking of three posts in a row.....but on a baseball note Albert hit 596 tonight.

Payjols sitting out the game in NY with a sore hamstring. Liberated from their AlberTross, the Angels spanking the Pond Scum with an 8 run lead.
AlberTino really stinking it up this year - a miniscule OBP of .293 and a Scott Cooper-like OPS of .663
His lusty career numbers are diminishing.
His career OBP is finally below .400 at .391
His career OPS is now down to .960
(Of course, both those career numbers are still astounding... but less otherworldly than they used to be)

Pujols is about to hit home run number 600 and no one seems to care- not the national media and not the local Angel fans. The focus is on Trout and how long he'll be out with his thumb injury. It's sad that such a milestone won't be celebrated like it should--you know it's got to hurt his ego.
Considering how awful the Cards are to watch this year, you know the city would have latched on to this pursuit and treated it with the fanfare you'd expect. Too bad.

Can he stay healthy enough to get to 700? He's got 4 years on his deal after this one, so assuming he gets to 25HR this year he'd need 84 more bombs in his final 4 seasons.
I don't see it happening. I'd guess more like 660

Next guy he'll take down...Sammy Suser.

What Albert won't do is pass Lou Gehrig in career WAR for most ever by a 1B.
Pujols is at about 101, Gehrig had over 118. Albert's going to have 2-3 per season, at *most*.

Haven't attempted to hide my schadenfreude in this thread nor will I at any point.
I'm definitely looking forward to the smattering of polite applause as he rounds the bases after 600. He'll tip his cap, take a bow, and pretend like it's anything REMOTELY approaching the thunderous ovation and friggen week dedicated to his time in STL had he not left for the bigger pile of cash and then said it was about respect.
This is your moment, Al. You've earned it. I hope you enjoy it as much as all your 'fans' in Anaheim will...

Wow. F*ck you Albert.Pujols won two World Series and three MVP awards in St. Louis. If he had hit his 600th home run there, the celebration would have been about more than that moment. However he was performing, wherever the team was in the standings, the city would have been thanking him for nearly two decades of memories.
Pujols had no interest in exploring this alternate universe.
“Flip the page, man,” Pujols said. “It’s been six years.”
No one even remembers that you were good. Just another overpaid has-been.

You should see the DP he hit into last night. Miguel Sano's fat ass dove to his left, climbed to a knee and flipped to 2nd, 2nd baseman who held the ball just expecting a force, turned and looked and saw where Pujols was and flipped it to first and got him by two steps.
It was such a blatent lack of hustle that it looked awkward.

In other news.....Albert "HOF" Pujols hit his 600 homerun, in fact, a grand slam, tonite.....for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
I don't know about you but I'd rather have Matt Adams.......

Not bad. Not great. Probably better than I thought at this point. Not finished. But certainly fading.
I think he's one debilitating injury away from retirement. Maybe in the next two years.
