I wish I could watch YouTube @ work, which is where I am. No streaming video allowed.
'More Than A Feeling' is still one of my faves, as well as 'Party' & 'Cantcha Say/Still In Love'.
I listen to mostly trance these days, but I still love the classic rock.![]()

As an amateur picker...have you looked at Schecter? They make some really nice electrics in the $500 range. Also, I have an Ibanez that I got for under $300 that plays really nice. It's not in the same league as my Paul Reed Smith, but for the money it's been pretty good.
ETA: What kind of music do you play?

Yeah, they are very similar, construction-wise anyway. I've never played a RGX though. All the Ibanez guitars have a well-earned reputation as being smooth and fast, something to consider. Don't know if the Yamahas are as well. Seriosly though, check out the Schecter guitars. If I were going to spend say $500-600ish on a new electric, that would likely be my first choice. Also, I don't know what your opinion of Fender is, but the Mexcian-made Strats are a good value for the money. I'd go with the Fat Strat, with a humbucker at the bridge though.

I've been considering a Tele. They can sound a bit "twangy", and they're not as versatile as a Strat, but they definitely have a unique sound. Of course I don't *need* another guitar, as my wife reminds me that I already have five of them. Of course, she just doesn't get it.
Actually, I think my next guitar is going to be one of those do-it-yourself kits, as I'm wanting to experiment with painting and finishing it myself.

The show Scrubs turns up some pretty good music every now and then, especially the 2000-2004 episodes. They've had Toad the Wet Sprocket on there a few times, good mellow stuff:

Me, too. Not sure what to make of some of the stuff on the new album ("Highly Suspicious"? Forreal?), but there's some good tunes there.
Oz-
Have you checked out the soundtrack to Garden State? Apparently, Zach Braff has a hand in the music selections for Scrubs and the Garden State soundtrack compilation won him a Grammy. I like the Shins songs, Nick Drake, and Coldplay's "Don't Panic".
If one enjoys good guitar noises, Wilco is doing that very well. Impossible Germany is a slightly jazzy, mid-tempo rocker that morphs into an Allman Brothers three guitar orgasm. Check the Nels Cline solo at 2:45. Oof. Here's California Stars. Pretty straightforward folk-type song (with lyrics by Woody Guthrie).
They are one of the current Great American Bands, and that's not hyperbole. (Though, sadly, they are Cubs fans.)

On a related note, did you know that YouTube has partnered with the music industry and is removing the audio on all videos with unauthorized use of copyrighted songs?
They have millions of videos to scan, so it's going to take a while. But all those Microsoft MovieMaker and Powerpoint, etc. videos posted using copyrighted music will now have the audio disabled.
The only authorized music on YouTube will be what the bands and movie companies post themselves.

I like the new album, too. I haven't spoken with enough people who know them to test my theory about Kings of Leon: you either love Caleb Followill's voice or you hate it. I also like Manhattan on the new album. It's a family affair: three brothers and a cousin in the band.
Here's "The Bucket" (good place to start, very accessible rock song) and "Day Old Blues", (which I suspect is a good test of my theory) from their second album, Aha Shake Heartbreak. And here's our centerfield phenom's theme song (same album).
