For the bluegrass lovers, something that's, well, kinda bluegrass. Get to know the Avett Brothers:

From their most recent full length, Paranoia in BFlat Major. Homemade music video.

Salvation Song. I made my wife a mix of mid-tempo acoustic-type stuff for the delivery of our third meatbaby. This one was ringing through the delivery room at the moment the OB caught my wife's baby fastball. "And see you shine so bright in a world of woe...". Nice song to be born to.

Murder in the City from their most recent EP.

Another homemade video for When I Drink.

I could do this all day. These guys are one of the best things going. None of these really touches on what really makes people crazy for these guys: their live, punk-like energy.

And I love me some Wilco. My favorite outfit. I'll bore you with that later.

Nice call on the Jeff Buckley, WIII. Grace is spectacular front to back.

Most rattled I ever got from a TV show was watching the West Wing after the guy that is now on NCIS got shot (was a secret service agent), they played the John Cale version of that song; really stirring.

I cannot stand American Idol....but the wife watches, therefore so do I.

Anyways, last year one of the contestants (Jason Castro, i believe....the hippy one) sang a damn fine version of it.

    Such a fantastic song.

I'll buy the first round. If you-all can keep up with Grandpa Boog at the La Cantina, we'll take the house down.

And here is Carl Perkins ("Blue Suede Shoes") and Jerry Lee, singing and playing together. Jerry Lee, Perkins, Johnny Cash, Elvis, and Roy Orbison started together at Sun Records in 1954 or so. Jerry Lee is the last one standing.

    Hello Boog,

Many years ago the Mrs and I were traveling through Mississippi on our way home. We had a Ray Charles tour bus pass us and my wife goes nuts and starts waving like crazy.

My response: he's blind, he aint waving back.

Wow, had no idea they put a 2nd out. The only one I knew about was the 'handle with care' album.

I wonder if Tom Petty didn't take a little to active a role in writing those songs though, they all tend to sound like Tom Petty songs but with different singers.

Still pretty slick getting all those guys in the same bunch. Kinda like the Highwaymen and/or Velvet Revolver (though VR has always been a bit of a disappointment)

I know certain folks around here don't like OT threads. But I'm betting the traffic on the Baseball threads has picked up since this thread started. During the winter months when it is slow, you need a reason to get on here.

    Nice thread sosl.

For some reason I can't change the station if this comes on, it gets posted by virtue of the music video though.

Thanks much. I enjoy giving the T.V. a rest, and music and baseball talk seem to mesh well.
