"In the middle of a dance floor all alone
In the middle of an old school country song
Right when I was just about to lean on in
Why'd you have to go then?
Baby, in the middle of the glow of the neon light
It shoulda, coulda, woulda been the night of our lives
    Girl, it ain't right, no
How you gonna leave me right in the middle of a memory?"

I am done missing RRB when they're in town. Every time they come I have plans, but no more excuses. My mom better not die around the time they come cause I might have to skip the service.

They put on a great show, each on better than the last.

RRB's music can just hit you. Too many times I've heard a song from them and say "Wow, been there" or "This is me right now". Sadly, the song posted is what I'm currently dealing with.

First Aid Kit (Swedish sisters Klara and Johanna Soderberg) make Paul Simon cry with their rendition of America at the Polar Music Awards. Or maybe Johanna's youth and beauty just made him wistful.

Went and saw Ben Folds play with the Kansas City Symphony last weekend.

!@#$ me, that guy is talented and just entertaining as can be. The set list wasn't exactly the greatest hits of his Ben Folds Five days that would've been the most fun, but a lot of that doesn't exactly lend itself to a symphony. He killed Landed, The Luckiest and Zac and Sara with it, though. You Don't Know Me was good, Effington was solid. And if anyone's been to a Ben Folds concert you know you're likely to hear "ROCK THIS BITCH!" from the crowd at some point and he'll just create a song on the spot. That's not exactly the easiest thing to do with a Symphony but he managed it. He had the lead Flute play a 2-measure melody and went through the reeds, high and low strings, and a few of the brass instruments and created a pretty catchy little tune just having giving them something of a round to play.

We know one of the Violia's and we went out for drinks with her afterwards and she said a lot of them hate it when guys like that come to down because let's face it, that's pretty easy/boring stuff for them to play. But any of them that are my age or within about 10 years on either side grew up watching Ben Folds rise and love the guy.

It was a lot of fun. Not a typical symphony crowd/atmosphere, that's for sure. Great venue as well (new Kaufman Performing Arts Center in KC).

I guess in keeping with the spirit of the thread I should put some links in here for a couple songs:

Zac and Sara (I thought this was the best song he did in the set; really went well with the orchestra)
    https://youtu.be/-z7x0V5cm-A

Landed; also went well with the orchestra, filled the hell out of that hall. Zac and Sara had the most energy but this one would occasional run that tingle up my spine when he'd hit a minor key or something and the whole room would fill with sound.
    https://youtu.be/0vPygzPSg8M?list=RDf9bRmuP-kQY

And for good measure, my favorite Ben Folds song (maybe; Bastard and Do It Anyway are really good also) -- Philosphy:

Learned Love Stinks for some upcoming gigs, as it's one of their easiest and carries a universal message.

It's a shame that Geils will be remembered by so many from his 80s abominations like Love Stinks and Centerfold. They were a helluva live blues band back in the day.

Didn't love that song, but Full House was a terrific live album. That band had great energy.

I saw the Allman Brothers live at Univ. of DE in... I think... 1990, give or take a year. Great show. All of my rock and roll heroes are getting really old.

Allman Brothers had so many good songs it's hard to pick a "best" one. But this is definitely one of my favorites.

I sat in the rain for about 6 hours Sunday night, but well worth it. i didn't record this video, just posting one I found online. Anyone who was there would agree, I'm sure, that it was otherworldly good. Oh, and I'm not really a huge Metallica fan but they are extremely skilled musicians and they probably have Disney Imagineers on staff to help script, choreograph and execute the cinematic and lights part of their show.
    Just incredible.
