Why not a music thread ?

I've done this in several forums, and it's been pretty popular, so why not try here. It's pretty simple.

Post a favorite song. Identify the group and the name of the song. That way a participant can pick and chose the music he / she wants to hear without having to click on it. Plus, it allows you to choose appropriate music for your mood. Personally, not only have I discovered groups that I never heard of, but listening to music while I paruse the threads works well.

All types of music are welcome. There is no wrong answer. Here goes.

There's a reason that people in the '70's looked like they were having way more fun than people today.

AC/DC -- Let there be rock. Video sucks beyond what I thought possible, song is great (and clever as hell).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98I85ceICRM

Sixx AM -- Life is beautiful. Nikki Sixx is a complete degenerate, but the guy can write some pretty badass songs.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJDDxHIaaVk

Foo Fighters -- let it die. Can't put my finger on why I like this song, just some pretty cool progressions in there...

    Kings of Leon

One of the best albums I have found in a long time.....Very Unique to me in many aspects.

Kings of Leon - Use Somebody from the album Only By The Night.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCZfJ...e=channel_page

The entire album is great. The first time I listened to it (this is their 4th album I came to learn) my first impression was similiar to that which I had when I first listened to Pearl Jam Ten. I later read on Wikipedia that Eddie Vedder is a big fan and the Kings actually opened for Pearl Jam on a tour at some point.

Wait! Heres another, the first track on the CD. Called "Closer"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOg1YfapEd4&NR=1

    Enjoy!

For the Christmas season I choose "Christmas Canon" by Trans Siberian Orchestra (quite the 80's feel they have)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA9DmSfufSQ

For otherwise, I choose "I am Free" by the Newsboys

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQXlxhJn-cs if you can get by the drum solo at the beginning

I sing lead on the song "I am free" in one of our bands at church as worship leader.

Shame, two of the five gone too soon. And two of the three survivors hate each other's guts.

C'mon man, it's still a sports forum. You have every right to ignore it. What's wrong with music ? You can only beat hot stove talk into the ground for so long.

Your attitude gives impression of the guy that shooed us off the lawn chasing a baseball that went astray.

This isn't life or death. It's all about the music.

Threads like this are good for the forum. Especially during times of hot stove bullcrap. I'm so sick of reading about rumors because they never happen. Its a waste of time.

Why not just do a thread on screech owls, hyennas, and nail scratching black board if you really are into that type of annoying noises. People are subjected to loud obnoxious noises everyday at their jobs. I personally prefer peace and quiet.

Mac, this is the 21st century. Music has been around since the dawn of time. This is a forum which allows you to post any topic that you feel comfortable with. It also gives you the freedom to choose another thread, or ignore the one put forth in front of you.

If the response has been any indication, there are individuals out there who not only enjoy music, but take comfort in sharing their personal taste with others who feel likewise.

Forums, no matter what the topic, are a medium of entertainment. The participants, as in any true democratic process, own the right to respond in kind.

If you object to the contents of this thread, feel free to ignore it. Contact anyone you see fit to have it removed from furthur exposure, or petition those in charge to have me sanctioned or banished for subjecting you to something you find offensive.

The fact that you chose to take objection to something as innocent as encouraging others to submit personal musical selections, leads me to believe that you are an individual with an axe to grind.

P.S. I am a New Yorker. You don't want any part of me.

I think this is a neat idea. I can see possibly using one of the not-so-often-used sections, such as Avatars, to have music, movies, books, etc to discuss.
A lot of good material is found by exchanging favorites in many areas of entertainment.
