    LG Points Settings

Make sure everyone goes to the lg page and look at the points.

    R (1), 1B (1), 2B (2), 3B (3), HR (4), RBI (1), SH (1), SF (1), SB (2), CS (-1), BB (1), IBB (1), HBP (1), K (-1),

    W (10), L (-5), CG (5), SHO (10), SV (15), OUT (1), H (-1), ER (-1), BB (-1), HBP (-1), K (1), WP (-1), BLK (-1), SVOP (-5)

The changes are purely cosmetic. Instead of the H + 2b or H + HR its just 1B-1,2B-2,3B-3, HR-4. This just adds 1B, to showing up in the stat category. H/AB are still on the stats page under your team stats and in player stats.

Outs are there to ensure your pitchers are getting the credit for the .3 or .6 IP. I am not confident that IP gave you credit for those partial innings like it was suppose to. at any rate its just a cosmetic change that adds OUTS to the stat page. IP is still displayed.

we have the same max IP as last yr 1450

I originally had HLD (holds) as a stat worth 1 point because I thought we had balanced stat categories in pitching and hitting. but looking at the old lg info, holds wasn't part of the scoring, so it has been removed. right now we have 15 offensive categories, which is the max, and 14 pitching. So we could add HLD to the stats and make it worth a point to give minimal value to middle RP and to even out the stat categories across the board.

Here is last yrs stats to compare this yr

I pulled this out of one last February's threads. It's the 2002 system, but we didn't make any changes.

    Batting
    Runs - 1
    Hits - 1
    2B - 1
    3B - 2
    HR - 3
    RBI - 1
    Sac Hit - 1
    Sac Fly - 1
    SB - 2
    CS - (1)
    BB - 1
    IBB - 1
    HBP - 1
    K - (1)
    GIDP (1)
    ----------
    Pitching
    IP - 3
    W - 10
    L - (5)
    CG - 5
    Shutout - 10
    Save - 15
    Hits - (1)
    ER - (1)
    BB - (1)
    HBP - (1)
    Strikeouts - 1
    WP - (1)
    BLK - (1)
SVOP - (5) This made every save worth 10 pts, and a blown save was -5.

    Innings limit of 1450
    also

remember that once I add the roster and click begin lg, no changes can be made.

I thought we had 1250 innings last year.

That's just memory... I could be wrong...

Nope, we've had 1450 ever since the move to Yahoo.

My propositions are the same as they were. A save goes to 8 points and we eliminate the IBB as it double counts a walk.

I think the HLD thing was just something RBF1 copied from an old post. I don't think a HLD is a good idea, for what it's worth.

I thought we had made some kind of change for this year on the value of a "save". I can't believe it holds more value than a "win". I know we have had that discussion here many times before in the past.

    Row,

    The 'save' is bookkeeping.

It is worth 15 points because a save opp is worth -5, thus making a save worth only 10 points.

JB has argued that it devalues middle relievers (and he's right), but the alternative is to devalue starting pitchers or severely overvalue incredibly bad closers, so the decision was made to keep the points the same way they were.

I really wish yahoo would keep track of blown saves so we could just assign a -5 value to them and move on (which would bring up the value of middle relievers a little bit), but it doesn't appear they have/will.

Commissioner, correct me if I'm wrong...

    Morning Oz,

I saw that. I guess that is what I thought might change in the save department. I have seen leagues where they do put a value on the "blown save". I wonder why Yahoo does not use it?

    They did several years ago.

When Stats, inc. got rid of the stat, Yahoo did along with them. I believe Stats is the only providor Yahoo uses for their fantasy leagues, hence the change.

Just one of those things. Definitely not a fan, but we developed a reasonable facsimile that I can live with (at least until we finally get the proletariat uprising that brings the total value of a save down to 7...)
